There are a number of combinations and permutations of the ABC pattern. Another configuration is shown in Figure 3. In this case, the equity put in an extreme followed by an A from which a conservative long trade (first green arrow) could have been made. At B, the long would be exited and then re-entered at C (second green arrow). In this example, the equity failed to reach a higher high than B, so the pattern failed. The trade is immediately exited once an ABC failure occurs.
The capital gains tax rate favors long-term investments. An investor who buys and sells their stocks within a few months will face a higher capital gains tax rate (25%) on their profits than an investor who buys and holds their stocks for a full year (15%). The larger your investment, the bigger the difference. Granted, there’s a risk to holding an investment for longer, but if you’re close to that one-year cutoff, it might be worth it to sit tight for a few more weeks.

From the the daily Chart, the RSI is still bullish. It is trading above the 40 level and repeatedly exceeding 70. The start of this retracement move was signified by the rejection pin bar last week. There is a nice RSI trend line forming. I will wait and watch price hopefully retrace to the 61,8 region. There is pre-existing structure (recent and further...

This forex trading strategy takes advantage of the momentum of the market that is currently prevalent. Any market sentiment is a sum total of all the traders’ prevalent sentiments. This ultimately results in the forex market moving in a specific direction. Market sentiment is a very important aspect and traders should learn to read or feel the same in order to successfully trade currencies. Sometimes it is easy to understand the sentiment, but some other it may not be very obvious.

Exchange rates in the Forex market are usually expressed with four decimal places, with the last decimal place representing a pip. A pip is the smallest increment that a currency pair can change in value. For example, if the euro vs. US dollar pair rises from 1.3000 to 1.3025, this would represent an increase of 25 pips. Forex traders use pips to report on their profits and losses and to express the movement of a currency pair – e.g. “Look, the GBP/USD has just moved 80 pips!”
This is a hand sketch of an ideal double top on a currency pair. There is a long upward move, sometimes for a few weeks, followed by a double top and reversal back down. Most pronounced double tops are on H4 time frames or larger. The larger the time frame the larger the reversal. Double bottoms also occur. Double tops and bottoms can occur on any pair. Double tops and bottoms occur frequently, more frequently on exotic pairs and quite frequently on the JPY pairs. Double tops and bottoms signal reversals after a long move and are fairly reliable reversal indicators.
Gold looks set to end the year with double-digit gains and is likely to maintain its upward trajectory in 2020. At press time, the yellow metal is trading at $1477 per Oz, representing 15.25% gains on a year-to-date basis. Anything above 13.2% would be the biggest yearly gain since 2010 when prices had rallied by 29.6%. The year gone by will be remembered for the US-China trade war escalation, persistent recession fears and more importantly, for the US Federal Reserve’s remarkable dovish U-turn. The Fed had raised rates by 25 basis points in December 2018 and penciled in two rate hikes for 2019.
Such signal generators also usually provide suggested stop-loss and take-profit levels so that the trader can appropriately try to manage any losses or gains on any positions they take based on the signals generated by the software. Please note that there is no guarantee that a stop order is filled at the stop price and the same caution applies to these products as the robots.
While the all-in cost to trade can be critical for many traders, it is essential to look at the whole picture in terms of how a broker’s overall offering could best suit your needs. What are the average spreads for the account types offered? How will differences in margin requirements or execution type available affect my forex trading volumes and related trading costs? These are just two questions that can help traders compare key differences between offerings.
The foreign exchange ("forex" or "FX") currency market is not traded on a regulated exchange like stocks and commodities. Rather, the market consists of a network of financial institutions and retail trading brokers which each have their own individual hours of operation. Since most participants trade between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in their local time zone, these times are used as the market open and close times, respectively.
Broker vs independent vendor – A lot of brokers will offer software directly linked to their in-house systems, but you can also use third-party applications through independent software vendors with brokers that support such integration. The benefit of third-party solutions is that they often have more advanced features and enable you to trade with several different brokers with one single interface.

These are some of the factors you should consider before choosing a legal entity for your forex trading business; limitation of personal liability, ease of transferability, admission of new owners, investors’ expectation and of course taxes. If you take your time to critically study the various legal entities to use for your forex trading business, you will agree that limited liability company; an LLC is most suitable. You can start this type of business as limited liability company (LLC) and in future convert it to a ‘C’ corporation or an ‘S’ corporation especially when you have the plans of going public.
In the Forex market, currencies always trade in pairs. When you exchange US dollars for euros, there are two currencies involved. For every foreign exchange transaction, you must exchange one currency for another. This is why the forex market uses currency pairs, so you can see the cost of one currency relative to another. The EUR/USD price, for example, lets you know how many US dollars (USD) it takes to buy one euro (EUR).
Hello mil06. Thank you for your question. We recommend using eToro to trade bitcoin if you are based in Europe. The platform is available in the vast majority of European countries so it most likely that it will be available in yours. We recommend eToro in particular because it is a fully regulated broker with over 10 million users worldwide. Some of its main characteristics are a quick sign up process, an efficient verification process, a simple trading interface, great asset variety and a good variety of payment methods. The most important feature offered by the platform though, is the copy trading option. You are basically allowed to place the same trades as the ones placed by top investors on eToro. It is a great opportunity for beginners because they can get a chance to speed up their learning process and start developing their very own bitcoin trading strategy.
A head and shoulders chart pattern is basically a reversal pattern. In the example chart below, the currency pair is moving up for a long time then retreats, forming the left shoulder. Then the pair moves up one more time creating the head.  Then it retreats again and moves up one more time creating a decreasing top on the right, which is the right shoulder. The right half of the chart is now a decreasing top, which is bearish and signals the reversal back down. These types of chart patterns are more rare in the forex but they do occur. For a currency pair that is moving down, then reverses back up, you can also have an "inverted" head and shoulders chart pattern, which looks like the image below turned upside down

Trading forex can be an ultimately rewarding experience, but you must learn the ins and outs first. There is a lot of risk involved and this most definitely outweighs the returns for those who jump the gun and start trading without being fully prepared. Take the time to work on your education - it’s the most important aspect of forex trading.  Knowledge is power, and that power will enable you to make logical decisions and continue trading long past the time when a lot of players have gone bust.
Trading forex? I rubbed off that thought the first time it crossed my mind. I hanged on excuses like “I am not trained in Economics or Politics” and “that seems to be a branch of rocket science”. However, the more I resisted, the more the temptation to try it intensified. It seems the money hormones in my blood were realizing what they were missing—profiting ... Read more »
Paul Krugman, winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, has repeated numerous times that it is a bubble that will not last[92] and links it to Tulip mania.[93] American business magnate Warren Buffett thinks that cryptocurrency will come to a bad ending.[94] In October 2017, BlackRock CEO Laurence D. Fink called bitcoin an 'index of money laundering'.[95] "Bitcoin just shows you how much demand for money laundering there is in the world," he said.
So, if you are looking for a location for your forex trading company, ensure that it is a place that is located in a business district in your city, a place that is visible and easily accessible. Of course, you would not want to locate this type of business in the outskirts of town. Your clients should be able to drive down and locate your office with little or no difficulty. Vendors also should be able to easily locate your office when they have to come submit their bid/proposals or documents for background checks et al.
Stage 1: The bulls push the market higher, followed by a sell off, this sell-off is typically characterized as the bulls taking profit of their positions, as they are anticipating a price ceiling (resistance). The retracement of this leg usually falls within the fibonacci retracement levels. (Learn more about technical indicators here and more specifically about fibonacci levels here).
Below is a good example of the descending triangle pattern appearing on GBP/USD. A downtrend leads into the consolidation period where sellers outweigh buyers and slowly push price lower. A strong break of the lower trendline presents traders with an opportunity to go short. In this example, it doesn’t take long for the position to move in the opposite direction, highlighting the importance of setting an appropriate stop level.

Many currency pairs will move about 50 to 100 pips (sometimes more or less depending on overall market conditions) a day. A pip (an acronym for Point in Percentage) is the name used to indicate the fourth decimal place in a currency pair, or the second decimal place when JPY is in the pair. When the price of the EUR/USD moves from 1.3600 to 1.3650, that's a 50 pip move; if you bought the pair at 1.3600 and sold it at 1.3650 you'd make a 50-pip profit.
A single pound on Monday could get you 1.19 euros. On Tuesday, 1.20 euros. This tiny change may not seem like a big deal. But think of it on a bigger scale. A large international company may need to pay overseas employees. Imagine what that could do to the bottom line if, like in the example above, simply exchanging one currency for another costs you more depending on when you do it? These few pennies add up quickly. In both cases, you—as a traveler or a business owner—may want to hold your money until the forex exchange rate is more favorable.

A managed forex account allows a professional manager (or someone who claims to be so) to trade your funds on your behalf for a salary or a fixed share of the profits. You may select a specialized firm for this purpose or a broker that offers a sophisticated software feature that permits your account balance to be traded by an expert. The latter service does provide an extra level of risk protection. You must always be careful in selecting a money manager that you can trust and that has earned a good reputation in the industry. While most money managers are legitimate, there have been several notable scams in the past (a few are discussed below). In many other cases, an enterprising person will setup a firm advertising his services to clients and will trade their funds on an independent basis. This second type of manager and the dangers created by associating with him is the subject of this article.

It is also important to understand what country regulates the broker. Australian regulation is considered one of the premium regulators requiring brokers to have training requirements and to segregate clients funds into separate accounts. Like with any investment product, if it’s too good to be true, it normally is. Play it say and ensure the broker make sure they have an Australian Financial Services Licence and has a good reputation and market share. All brokers trading in Australia such as IC Markets and Pepperstone are regulated by ASIC (Australian Securities Investment Commission). These brokers hold an AFSL licence.
