Yohay Elam – Founder, Writer and Editor I have been into forex trading for over 5 years, and I share the experience that I have and the knowledge that I’ve accumulated. After taking a short course about forex. Like many forex traders, I’ve earned the significant share of my knowledge the hard way. Macroeconomics, the impact of news on the ever-moving currency markets and trading psychology have always fascinated me. Before founding Forex Crunch, I’ve worked as a programmer in various hi-tech companies. I have a B. Sc. in Computer Science from Ben Gurion University. Given this background, forex software has a relatively bigger share in the posts. Yohay's Google Profile
Liquidity – important for all trading, liquidity refers to how fast or slow an asset can be bought or sold. If Bitcoin has high liquidity on an exchange, it means you can buy it and sell it near instantly. If Bitcoin has low liquidity on another exchange, it means that you may have some stagnation when it comes to buying or selling Bitcoin, which means you could be waiting for a while.
We’ve accurately tested both eToro and Plus500 and found them to be equally legit. It is hard to tell which one is better because both have their strengths and their weaknesses. They are both very similar in terms of sign up process and security measures, such as the documentation required to prove your identity and the personal details you have to provide. In terms of trading experience, they both use highly sophisticated software that definitely can make you earn money.
In other words, sometimes the greatest risks are the ones you don’t even realize you are taking. This is why here on ForexBrokers.com we focus on reviewing forex brokers that are regulated and have been in operation, in some cases, for decades. We also include a Trust Score rating for each broker, making it easy to determine how trustworthy a firm is.
The Forex or foreign exchange market is a group of traders conducting tens of trillions of dollars worth of trades 24 hours a day, six days a week. When the Forex or FX market is in session, individuals, governments and major banks all over the world trade currency pairs with one another constantly. Mere seconds can mean the difference between making and losing money, and those same seconds can equal the difference between small and large changes in one’s wealth.
The MT5 is the next level platform in the MetaTrader platform series. While it retains many features of the MT4, there are some enhancements and outright changes that have been included. There is still a lot of confusion as to what Metaquotes really wants to do with the MT4 and MT5. Initially launched as a replacement for the MT4, the MT5 has found it hard to achieve the kind of market penetration that the MT4 got. So Metaquotes seems just content with allowing retail brokers run along with both platforms. Some forex brokers have tried to push the usage of the MT5 by only allowing certain trading assets on the MT5. So it is not surprising that you will see some brokers offering only stock CFDs or cryptocurrencies on the MT5 platforms they offer.
Now, let’s move on to an example of a forex trade using bitcoin. First, you open a forex trading account with a broker who accepts bitcoins (like AvaTrade, eToro or Liteforex). You then deposit 2 bitcoins from your digital wallet to the forex broker’s digital wallet. Assuming the current bitcoin to U.S. dollar rate is 1 bitcoin = $500, your deposit of 2 bitcoins is equal to $1,000. Now, assume that you want to take a position in British pounds. If the exchange rate is £0.5 = $1, you will receive £500. After some time, the GBP/USD rate changes to 0.45, and you square off your position to get $1,111.11 in your trading account. You have made a tidy 11.11% profit and you are ready to cash out. However, suppose by this time the bitcoin to U.S. dollar rate has changed to 1 bitcoin = $560. When you withdraw your money in bitcoins, you receive ($1,111.11/$560) = 1.984 bitcoins.
Currency prices are constantly moving, so the trader may decide to hold the position overnight. The broker will rollover the position, resulting in a credit or debit based on the interest rate differential between the Eurozone and the U.S. If the Eurozone has an interest rate of 4% and the U.S. has an interest rate of 3%, the trader owns the higher interest rate currency because they bought EUR. Therefore, at rollover, the trader should receive a small credit. If the EUR interest rate was lower than the USD rate then the trader would be debited at rollover.
Moreover, as we live in an age when we use are smartphones and tablets more often than ever, brokers wanted to make sure that people who are constantly on the move will also be able to trade forex. Most brokers, at least the most popular ones have developed, usually, more than one mobile trading platform in order to cater to the needs of owners of different mobile devices, most notably iOS and Android.
So, yes, at any given trading center, it's an eight hour day. But that really doesn't matter, because somewhere in the world trading centers are open. You can trade anytime you want, although you should also note that you'll get the narrowest spreads -- the broker's profit margin -- when the maximum number of trading centers are open or, more precisely, when the trading volume for your currency trade is greatest.
The forex managed accounts are the service through which a professional trader or a group of professional traders with years of experiences and verified results personally handle the management and trading of your account in exchange for a monthly percentage of the profits (Profit Fee) on the account. It is noteworthy that the trader charges this Profit Fee only when generating profitability, if there is no profit, Profit Fee neither. Similarly there is not any other rate or charge, or Management Fee or anything like this.
Retail or beginning traders often trade currency in micro lots, because one pip in a micro lot represents only a 10-cent move in the price. This makes losses easier to manage if a trade doesn't produce the intended results. In a mini lot, one pip equals $1 and that same one pip in a standard lot equals $10. Some currencies move as much as 100 pips or more in a single trading session making the potential losses to the small investor much more manageable by trading in micro or mini lots.

One function that most new FX traders overlook is tax reporting. Because FX is a global, unregulated market, dealers as a general rule do not provide any documentation to the tax authorities in the trader's country of residence. Tax reporting is solely the responsibility of the trader. Brokers produce detailed transaction histories, in an electronic format, from which the trader must then compile their tax reports. Such an arrangement calls for a trading platform with highly organized and flexible reporting functions.

Currency trading and exchange first occurred in ancient times. Money-changers (people helping others to change money and also taking a commission or charging a fee) were living in the Holy Land in the times of the Talmudic writings (Biblical times). These people (sometimes called "kollybistẻs") used city stalls, and at feast times the Temple's Court of the Gentiles instead. Money-changers were also the silversmiths and/or goldsmiths of more recent ancient times.
Trend-following systems require a particular mindset, because of the long duration—during which time profits can disappear as the market swings—these trades can be more psychologically demanding. When markets are volatile, trends will tend to be more disguised and price swings will be greater. Therefore, a trend-following system is the best trading strategy for Forex markets that are quiet and trending.

Margin – The deposit required to open or maintain a position. Margin can be either “free” or “used”. Used margin is that amount which is being used to maintain an open position, whereas free margin is the amount available to open new positions. With a $1,000 margin balance in your account and a 1% margin requirement to open a position, you can buy or sell a position worth up to a notional $100,000. This allows a trader to leverage his account by up to 100 times or a leverage ratio of 100:1.
For example, if an exchange rate between the British pound and the Japanese yen was quoted in an American newspaper, this would be considered a cross rate in this context, because neither the pound or the yen is the standard currency of the U.S. However, if the exchange rate between the pound and the U.S. dollar were quoted in that same newspaper, it would not be considered a cross rate because the quote involves the U.S. official currency.
In 2012, Iceland considered adopting the Canadian dollar as a stable alternative to the Icelandic króna. Canada was favoured due to its northern geography and similar resource based economy, in addition to its relative economic stability. The Canadian ambassador to Iceland said that Iceland could adopt the currency; although Iceland ultimately decided not to move on with the proposal.

It is estimated that in the UK, 14% of currency transfers/payments are made via non-bank Foreign Exchange Companies. These companies' selling point is usually that they will offer better exchange rates or cheaper payments than the customer's bank. UK forex brokers are not covered under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme however FCA Authorised Payment Institutions are required to safeguard funds in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Payment Services Regulations 2009.
Gonçalo Moreira explains the correlations that exist between oil, the USD and the CAD: "If Canada is one of the world's largest producers of oil and oil is such a big part of the US economy, rising oil prices tend to have a negative effect on the USD and a positive effect on the CAD. Here you have two nice correlations.” Then he continues his analysis: “If you are willing to find a pair which is really sensitive to oil prices, then pick the CAD/JPY. Canada and Japan are at the extreme ends of production and consumption of oil. While Canada benefits from higher oil prices, Japan's economy can suffer because it imports nearly all of the oil it consumes. This is another interesting correlation to follow."
Currency futures contracts are contracts specifying a standard volume of a particular currency to be exchanged on a specific settlement date. Thus the currency futures contracts are similar to forward contracts in terms of their obligation, but differ from forward contracts in the way they are traded. In addition, Futures are daily settled removing credit risk that exist in Forwards. They are commonly used by MNCs to hedge their currency positions. In addition they are traded by speculators who hope to capitalize on their expectations of exchange rate movements.
There are many cases of traders who failed at some point but ended up producing significant profits. For example, Jesse Livermore became famous making a fortune by shorting the stock market in 1929. However, he experienced both great success and humiliating failure during his ventures, filing for bankruptcy three times while also becoming a Wall Street legend by amassing a $100 million fortune through speculative trades.

2) Pseudonymous: Neither transactions nor accounts are connected to real-world identities. You receive Bitcoins on so-called addresses, which are randomly seeming chains of around 30 characters. While it is usually possible to analyze the transaction flow, it is not necessarily possible to connect the real-world identity of users with those addresses.
Demo accounts were not particularly feasible before the widespread use of personal computers and the Internet. When trades were mostly recorded using paper, monitoring a virtual trade would have been time-consuming and costly, eliminating the primary benefit of a demo account, namely that it’s free. Demo accounts began to be offered by online brokerages in the 2000s, as high-speed internet was starting to be adopted by more Americans. Demo accounts have also been adopted as a means of teaching high school students the basics of investing in the stock market. Many school districts around the country offer personal finance or economics classes that require students to maintain a demo stock account and monitor the progress of their investments over the course of the semester.
During selected key national bank holidays (know as public holidays by Australians) a countries currency market may close limiting the overall forex trading hours. Most brokers also provide leverage. Many brokers in the U.S. provide leverage up to 50:1. Let's assume our trader uses 10:1 leverage on this transaction. If using 10:1 leverage the trader is not required to have $5,000 in their account, even though they are trading $5,000 worth of currency. They only need $500. As long as they have $500 and 10:1 leverage they can trade $5,000 worth of currency. If they utilize 20:1 leverage, they only need $250 in their account (because $250 * 20 = $5,000).
Some of the other best forex trading strategies are based on the technical analysis. This method is particularly important in day trading. Technical analysis is useful to traders in that it gives them an indication of times when they can enter or exit the market. It also helps the trader to make the most out of the existing market status. Given below are brief explanations of some of the technical analysis based trading strategies.
Perhaps the most popular element of foreign exchange trading is the amount of time the markets are open; this has proved to be quite liberating for traders. Unlike the stock market which has very rigid trading hours, Australian currency traders can trade 24/5 from 7:00am on Monday. The graph below how foreign exchange markets are open 24 hours and the most popular trading times when sessions overlap on global currency markets. It is quite easy to see how markets are interlinked and how forex trading hours are open 24 hours until Friday afternoon within the United States. Below shows the trading hours for Australian traders (AEST) with 10:00 pm to 1:00 am the busiest time.
The most profitable forex strategy will require an effective money management system. One technique that many suggest is never trading more than 1-2% of your account on a single trade. So, if you have $10,000 in your account, you wouldn’t risk more than $100 to $200 on an individual trade. As a result, a temporary string of bad results won’t blow all your capital.
In addition, you will want to manage your margin carefully when trading to avoid having less than necessary to support your open positions. Also, remember to be responsive to any margin calls unless you want your positions to be closed out, which many forex brokers now do automatically when your account’s margin becomes insufficient to cover your portfolio’s losses according to their stated margin requirements.
The Forex martingale strategy: The martingale strategy is a trading strategy whereby, for every losing trade, you double the investment made in future trades in order to recover your losses, as soon as you make a successful trade. For instance, if you invest 1 EUR on your first trade and lose, on the next trade you would invest 2 EUR, then 4 EUR , then 8 EUR and so on. Please note that this strategy is extremely risky by nature and not suitable for beginners!

In practice, the specialist's work involves some degree of risk. It can happen, for example, that the specialist accepts a bid or buy order at a given price, but before finding a seller, the currency's value increases. He is still responsible for filling the accepted buy order and may have to accept a sell order that is higher than the buy order he has committed to filling.

Spot Prices represent the midpoint between Monex bullion bid and ask prices per ounce. A Current Spot Price is calculated based on a virtual non-stop price discovery process of most active comparable commodity transactions. For example, if the price per ounce of the current gold “Spot” month is two dollars less than the COMEX/NYMEX futures contract price, then at a time when that future contract trades at a given price, say $1200, it suggests a spot price of $1198. Obviously, market prices can fluctuate irrespective of a COMEX/NYMEX futures contract trading.
Another possible source of confusion is that GMT is always just that, summer, winter and fall. Eastern time, however, comes in two flavors: Eastern Standard Time (EST) and Eastern Daylight Time. Since the agreed-upon reference time worldwide is actually GMT, which has no Greenwich Mean Daylight Savings Time, this means that a New York trader who chooses to reference Eastern time rather than GMT, must keep in mind that during Daylight Savings Time in New York, the trading hours shift by an hour because the GMT reference time, needless to say, does not shift.
Limit order – another order type used in trading that is more complex and requires more detail entry to execute. Limit orders traditionally function on a price execution basis, which means the order will only execute if the price of an asset passes a certain point. For example, if you have a limit buy order for Bitcoin at $3,000 , your order will execute only if Bitcoin price touches the $3,000 level.

Minimize costs. Brokerage fees can undermine your returns. This is especially true if you participate in day trading. Day traders quickly buy and sell stocks throughout the day. They hold the stocks for less than one day, sometimes for only seconds or minutes, looking for opportunities to make quick profits. Day trading or any strategy in which you are frequently buying and selling your securities can get expensive. For every transaction, you may be charged transaction fees, investment fees and trading activity fees. These fees add up quickly and can significantly cut into your losses.
