Having an opportunity to practice trading using a real forex trading platform and real-time pricing is what demo accounts are all about, especially for newer forex traders. Basically, it really pays to make any mistakes first using a demo account so that you can learn from them relatively painlessly, rather than when you have begun to live trade using a funded portfolio.
Forex Trading is the execution of transactions in the international foreign exchange market by exchanging one currency for another. The forex market is the largest decentralised unregulated capital market in the world, with an estimated turnover of £3-5 trillion per trading day. Major participants in the forex market include central banks, large financial institutions, hedge funds, large commercial banks, major transnational corporations, high net-worth individuals and retail traders. Once the exclusive domain of large financial institutions, the forex market now includes many smaller speculators who engage in trading online through dedicated forex brokers.
MAM stands for Multi-Account Manager. Other brokers might also refer to this type of account as a PAMM (Percent Allocation Management Module). It’s a technical software setup that allows for multiple client accounts to be automatically consolidated into a single, centralized terminal for the account manager to trade from. In our case, we use a single installation of the trading terminal program MetaTrader 4 (MT4) to trade each strategy. The MAM is set up on the broker’s server side, so allocation is instantaneous.

Consider this: large volumes of currencies are traded in the markets due to the necessity of currency exchange required in international trade. Large institutions may need to settle accounts in a cross-border manner quite frequently. As an example, an American company, looking to pay its German division, will need to pay them in euros. This means a forex transaction will be completed, and will likely influence the EUR/USD pair, even if only slightly.
On world markets, the Canadian dollar historically tended to move in tandem with the U.S. dollar. An apparently rising Canadian dollar (against the U.S. dollar) was decreasing against other international currencies; however, during the rise of the Canadian dollar since 2002, it has gained value against the U.S. dollar as well as other international currencies. In recent years, dramatic fluctuations in the value of the Canadian dollar have tended to correlate with shifts in oil prices, reflecting the Canadian dollar's status as a petrocurrency owing to Canada's significant oil exports.
Alpari is a reliable broker amid its compliance with trading policies and procedures set by regulatory bodies. This broker is regulated in multiple jurisdictions. All currency trading is done in pairs. Unlike the stock market, where you can buy or sell a single stock, you have to buy one currency and sell another currency in the forex market. Next, nearly all currencies are priced out to the fourth decimal point. A pip or percentage in point is the smallest increment of trade. One pip typically equals 1/100 of 1 percent.
Forex trading does involve risk as does any form of investment. There is a risk of sharp fluctuations in foreign exchange markets as you would get with stock, bond or commodity markets. The main difference though is the foreign exchange market is highly liquid in nature and this reduces the risk of being able to buy or sell where a trader cannot find another market participant to transact with.
The leverage is another important segment, as it allows every trader to trade a lot larger amount of currency units than the amount of money that they have at their disposal. If the leverage is 100:1, it means that you will be able to trade currency worth $10,000 with an amount of just $100. Some countries and their respective regulators have set limits on the amounts of leverage that brokers can offer. In Canada that is not the case and Canadians will be able to trade with leverage rates as high as 1000:1. Trading with leverage requires a high level of caution and you need to be fully aware of the associated risks and dangers.
This depends on the rules and procedures set by brokers. Brokers have been using different policies regarding the time frame for holding a demo account. For instance, AvaTrade demo account remains active as long as the traders log in on the trading platform at least once every 10 days. Some brokers offer unlimited funds in demo accounts while other brokers permit to use the specified virtual funds.
Automated trading functionality: One of the benefits of Forex trading is the ability to open a position and set automatic stop loss and take profit levels, at which the trade will close. More sophisticated platforms should have the functionality to carry out trading strategies on your behalf, once you have defined the parameters for these strategies. A good trading platform will allow this level of flexibility, rather than requiring a trader to constantly be monitoring any trades.
Moreover, gold tends to be worth trading in times of inflation or currency devaluation as it is viewed as a store of value. However, gold has also risen in value during periods of deflation or disinflation as well – especially during multi-year boom and bust credit cycles. Hence, the value of gold is often determined or influenced by the level of uncertainty over the direction the economy is heading in. In other words, investors will tend to hoard gold when there is an economic or some other type of crisis and the price of gold will rise.

It is also important to understand what country regulates the broker. Australian regulation is considered one of the premium regulators requiring brokers to have training requirements and to segregate clients funds into separate accounts. Like with any investment product, if it’s too good to be true, it normally is. Play it say and ensure the broker make sure they have an Australian Financial Services Licence and has a good reputation and market share. All brokers trading in Australia such as IC Markets and Pepperstone are regulated by ASIC (Australian Securities Investment Commission). These brokers hold an AFSL licence.
Tokenised securities are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should consider whether you understand how tokenised securities and leverage work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Nothing in the above article should be regarded as a recommendation to trade generally, to trade on a particular platform or to trade in a particular asset. Asset prices can go down as well as up and past performance is not a guide to future performance. Investors and traders should thoroughly research an asset or strategy before making any trading or investment decision and if necessary seek professional advice.
Live trading or “going live” is what most aspiring forex traders want to move on to after being successful trading a demo account. This means that you place real funds at risk on each trade, and your portfolio has to take whatever the market offers you in terms of profit or loss. Most traders just starting out in forex will want to see that their trading strategy works well on a demo account before taking the plunge to start live trading.
