While all forex brokers offer stop/loss features when trading it is possible to exceed loss levels set due to slippage. Due to the high levels of risk this presents day traders may select a broker that offers guaranteed stop loss orders. This means they can’t lose more than a set amount for a trade. Another fail-safe brokers offer is negative balance protection. This is where broker automatically exit CFDs traders from the market when their deposit level reaches $0 balance. Even if slippage does occur, the broker pays the difference. Reading the risk warnings of brokers is important prior to trading currency.
Hello kat43. Thank you for your question. There are quite a few reasons why trading bitcoin is a good idea. First of all, it is currently the biggest and most popular cryptocurrency out there and quite a few people have made significant profits trading with it. Of course, there are risks associated with it, but you really can make money with it. Other than this, Bitcoins cannot be falsified or have duplicated entries. It is also very transparent, in the sense that transactions can be monitored through the distributed ledger, also known as blockchain. Many well-reputed companies, such as eToro, currently back Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies, meaning that they are now as easy to find as any other popular stock. So as long as you are on a well-established and trusted broker, you will definitely be able to find cryptocurrencies on offer.
The Forex market offers attractive opportunities for traders, but also involves risk. That’s why before diving into Forex trading with a live account, it’s best to open a risk-free Forex demo account. The OctaFX Demo Account provides the same Forex trading experience as real accounts. The only difference is that the funds on the Forex demo account are simulated. You don’t trade with real money, so it is completely risk-free.
Foreign exchange trading increased by 20% between April 2007 and April 2010 and has more than doubled since 2004.[59] The increase in turnover is due to a number of factors: the growing importance of foreign exchange as an asset class, the increased trading activity of high-frequency traders, and the emergence of retail investors as an important market segment. The growth of electronic execution and the diverse selection of execution venues has lowered transaction costs, increased market liquidity, and attracted greater participation from many customer types. In particular, electronic trading via online portals has made it easier for retail traders to trade in the foreign exchange market. By 2010, retail trading was estimated to account for up to 10% of spot turnover, or $150 billion per day (see below: Retail foreign exchange traders).
When it comes to copy trading, size matters. eToro has over 10 million clients with the largest number offering to copy their trades due to a unique incentive system. The platform was designed around social trading and most financial markets can be traded especially cryptocurrencies. eToro is registered in Europe under CySEC (Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission) with licence 109/10 and in the UK by FCA FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) licence 7973792. It also has multiple other licences such as with ASIC but does not available for US residences it does not have a licence with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
More sophisticated charting software generally offers some support for traders using Elliot Wave Theory to analyze exchange rate movements that would include calculating Fibonacci retracement and projection levels. Additional advanced forex charting software features might include: more advanced line-drawing options that include channels and Gann lines, computing and displaying Pivot Points, as well as providing a wider range of increasingly-complex technical indicators.
During selected key national bank holidays (know as public holidays by Australians) a countries currency market may close limiting the overall forex trading hours. Worldwide, days such as Easter and Christmas lead to all currency markets to close. Normally when there is a national USA bank holiday the worldwide currency markets that do trade do so at lower levels.
The best forex trading software displays close to real-time exchange rates that change along with the market as it ticks up and down over time. Naturally, the best type of real time exchange rate is the one you can deal on. This way, when you go to enter a trade or an order using your forex trading platform software, you do not get surprised about where the market really is trading.
Many traditional market maker forex brokers will advertise what they term their "low, fixed, forex spreads", as being an advantage to forex traders. However, the reality is that fixed spreads cannot offer a significant advantage and in many instances may be misleading, given that market makers (by definition) make their own market and a market within a sector in order to benefit their own profitability.
^ The total sum is 200% because each currency trade always involves a currency pair; one currency is sold (e.g. US$) and another bought (€). Therefore each trade is counted twice, once under the sold currency ($) and once under the bought currency (€). The percentages above are the percent of trades involving that currency regardless of whether it is bought or sold, e.g. the U.S. Dollar is bought or sold in 88% of all trades, whereas the Euro is bought or sold 32% of the time.
Online retail forex trading has grown rapidly. Figures from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) show that by 2013, retail trading was making up 3.5 percent of total turnover in global forex markets and 3.8 percent of spot turnover. In Japan, where retail investors were very active, the percentage was far higher, at 10 percent and 19 percent, respectively.9

That is, the one perfect system that will make money, if not every single time, then at least 90% of the time. Reports in advertisements of systems that have an amazingly high success rate support the belief that such a perfect or near perfect forex trading system exists. And yet when the average trader starts using these systems, suddenly the success rate is not so high after all.

Some platforms use pop-up order windows, while others allow you trade by clicking prices directly on a chart. Typically, to buy a currency pair, click on the offer part of the quote (the ask), and to sell, you click on the bid part. Some platforms allow you to choose market order or limit order after the quote window pops up, while others force you to make your selection beforehand.

Forex trading as it relates to retail traders (like you and I) is the speculation on the price of one currency against another. For example, if you think the euro is going to rise against the U.S. dollar, you can buy the EURUSD currency pair low and then (hopefully) sell it at a higher price to make a profit. Of course, if you buy the euro against the dollar (EURUSD), and the U.S. dollar strengthens, you will then be in a losing position. So, it’s important to be aware of the risk involved in trading Forex, and not only the reward.

For the 22 international forex brokers included in our customer service assessment, we conducted institutional-grade phone testing with the help of UK-based customer experience research group Customerwise. In 2012, Iceland considered adopting the Canadian dollar as a stable alternative to the Icelandic króna.[24][25] Canada was favoured due to its northern geography and similar resource based economy, in addition to its relative economic stability.[26][27] The Canadian ambassador to Iceland said that Iceland could adopt the currency; although Iceland ultimately decided not to move on with the proposal.[28]

Forex alerts or signals are delivered in an assortment of ways. User generated alerts can be created to ‘pop up’ via simple broker trading platform tools, or more complex 3rd party signal providers can send traders alerts via SMS, email or direct messages. Whatever the mechanism the aim is the same, to trigger trades as soon as certain criteria are met.
The longer answer is that the market is big enough for all market participants. Even big banks don’t possess much more information than the retail trader from the street. News is available almost instantly to anyone, and countries report their economic growth and inflation rates at times scheduled many weeks upfront. The only real difference is experience – banks employ experienced traders to trade the market and make them a profit. The good news is that experience is something that anyone can gain, provided you spend enough time on your trading platform learning about the market.
To better understand the forex spread and how it affects you, you must understand the general structure of any forex trade. One way of looking at the trade structure is that all trades are conducted through middlemen who charge for their services. This charge, or the difference between the bidding price and the asking price for a trade, is called the spread.
Below we can see an example of the forex spread being calculated for the EUR/USD. First, we will find the buy price at 1.13398 and then subtract the sell price of 1.3404. What we are left with after this process is a reading of .00006. Traders should remember that the pip value is then identified on the EUR/USD as the 4th digit after the decimal, making the final spread calculated as 0.6 pips.

These articles, on the other hand, discuss currency trading as buying and selling currency on the foreign exchange (or "Forex") market with the intent to make money, often called "speculative forex trading". XE does not offer speculative forex trading, nor do we recommend any firms that offer this service. These articles are provided for general information only.
Notice that we have mentioned the fact that a lot of trading will have to be done, both on demo and on a live account. So traders will have to understand the kind of platforms that they will need to use in order to get a lot of learning from those platforms. This article describes the forex trading platforms that beginners will need to use to take their skills to the next level.

Program trading is a type of trading in securities, usually consisting of baskets of fifteen stocks or more that are executed by a computer program simultaneously based on predetermined conditions.[1] Program trading is often used by hedge funds and other institutional investors pursuing index arbitrage or other arbitrage strategies.[2] There are essentially two reasons to use program trading, either because of the desire to trade many stocks simultaneously (for example, when a mutual fund receives an influx of money it will use that money to increase its holdings in the multiple stocks which the fund is based on), or alternatively to arbitrage temporary price discrepancies between related financial instruments, such as between an index and its constituent parts.[3]
An order that seeks to buy at lower levels than the current market or sell at higher levels than the current market. A limit order sets restrictions on the maximum price to be paid or the minimum price to be received. As an example, if the current price of USD/JPY is 117.00/05, then a limit order to buy USD would be at a price below the current market, e.g. 116.50.
Demo Account: Although demo accounts attempt to replicate real markets, they operate in a simulated market environment. As such, there are key differences that distinguish them from real accounts; including but not limited to, the lack of dependence on real-time market liquidity, a delay in pricing, and the availability of some products which may not be tradable on live accounts. The operational capabilities when executing orders in a demo environment may result in atypically, expedited transactions; lack of rejected orders; and/or the absence of slippage. There may be instances where margin requirements differ from those of live accounts as updates to demo accounts may not always coincide with those of real accounts.
Thinkorswim is a particular standout in options trading, with options-trading tabs (just click “spread” if you want a spread and “single order” if you want one leg), plus links that explain the strategies on the order page. Its Strategy Roller feature lets investors create custom covered calls and then roll those positions from expiration to expiration.
Along the top of the platform are shortcuts to various tools and settings. Below this is a charting window to see the price history of a currency pair or other asset. Below the chart is the terminal. There are multiple tabs in the terminal, providing access to news, account history, current trades, and other information. As mentioned, not every platform is set up this way, but most offer the same features just arranged in a different way.

Forex trading simply involves trading in currency. You buy a certain currency when its price drops and you quickly sell it once the price goes up. So, your aim is to make as much profit as possible from the fluctuations in the prices of currencies. Though the principle by which money is made is the same in forex trading, stock trading and commodities trading; both trading methods differ in the following major aspects:

Trading is a mentally challenging event and a lot of it has to do with the psychology behind it. While difficult, it’s essential for a trader to take control of their emotions and develop a strong mental attitude towards trading. This is why a demo account can be useful tool for building experience and improving investment habits. This can then be further reinforced by the adoption of risk management techniques.

Hello pas534. Thank you for your question. The major risk of bitcoin trading is capital loss. Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies are known to be very volatile because they are associated with a decentralised market that is independent from financial institutions. This means that the fluctuations of their value and price is often unpredictable so placing profitable trades is not always easy. For this reason, we always tell are users to be extra careful when trading with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because of the risk of capital loss. There are a few things you can do to limit such risks, one is diversifying your trades as much as possible, the other is to only invest amounts that you feel ready to lose and that will not affect you in any way. I hope that helps.
This chart pattern is formed by three bottoms, in which the bears, once a double bottom had formed, felt that they wanted to challenge the support level once again. Once price was at the support level, it was followed again by the bulls entering the market and rejecting the bears attempt at breaking the level. Price then abruptly returns to the neckline.

Social trading and copy trading are passive investment methods that have been designed with the beginner forex trader at heart. These tools give beginners the opportunity to copy trades of other successful traders on the platform (manually or automatically), and hence replicate the same trading results of these traders on your account. Copy trade software may arguably be the most treasured beginner trader software yet developed, as they significantly reduce the learning curve for the trader and get the beginner up and running as if they had been trading for years.

Historically, bitcoin prices have exhibited high volatility. In the absence of regulations, volatility can be used by the unregulated brokers to their advantage and to a trader’s disadvantage. For example, assume the intraday bitcoin rate fluctuates from $500 to $530 U.S. dollars per bitcoin. For an incoming deposit of 2 bitcoins, the unregulated broker may apply the lowest rates to credit the trader $1,000 (2 bitcoins * $500 = $1000). However, once the trader is ready to make a withdrawal, the broker may use the lowest exchange rate and instead of the original 2 bitcoins deposited, the trader only receives 1.88679 bitcoins ($1,000/$530 = 1.88679 bitcoins). In reality, the unregulated broker may be exchanging bitcoins and dollars at say $515, and pocketing the difference at the expense of the client. (For more see Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile?)
