Forex brokers will have dedicated pages that provide easy and intuitive access to clients who want to open a demo account. Even live account registration pages will make mention of a demo account. But failing that, traders can get in touch with a broker’s customer service department and ask about opening an FX demo. Demo trading accounts are relatively straightforward and easy to use, and traders can access their demo accounts through a simple login.
Whether you day-trade the foreign exchange market (forex), stocks, or futures, there are free demo accounts available for you to try. Each company that offers a simulator uses a different type of software called a trading platform. Taking the time to explore how each platform functions will give you the chance to see which one of them best suits your trading style.
The best prices for gold and silver are those that are most reliable. Monex gold and silver prices have been an industry respected reference for decades, with over $55 billion in actual customer physical metal transactions. Over time, gold and silver prices tend to move in concert, mostly in opposition of depreciating fiat currencies. Recently, the price of gold has been about 60 times the price of silver, while historically it was closer to 20 times. Silver prices tend to be more volatile than gold, having relatively higher highs and lower lows. Many investors prefer silver investing because higher price volatility presents greater opportunities to profit, albeit with higher risk. Current trading prices of gold and silver investment quality metals are Atlas preferred prices.

Broker vs independent vendor – A lot of brokers will offer software directly linked to their in-house systems, but you can also use third-party applications through independent software vendors with brokers that support such integration. The benefit of third-party solutions is that they often have more advanced features and enable you to trade with several different brokers with one single interface.

When a trader opens a position at AvaTrade, he is not charged any other commissions beside the spread. The spread is the difference between the buy and sell price which is counted in pips – the fourth digit after the dot. For example if the buy price of EURUSD is 1.1123 and the sell price is 1.1120, then the spread is 3 pips. The spread charged for a position opened by a trader is the spread multiplied by the size of the position.
In 2012, Iceland considered adopting the Canadian dollar as a stable alternative to the Icelandic króna.[24][25] Canada was favoured due to its northern geography and similar resource based economy, in addition to its relative economic stability.[26][27] The Canadian ambassador to Iceland said that Iceland could adopt the currency; although Iceland ultimately decided not to move on with the proposal.[28]

This software has changed my trading game! I spend hours just watching the charts move and learning price action and being able to get in whenever I wanted and then be able to speed through time to see if my analysis played out. Big props to the creator of this software. I’m able to consistently catch big moves in real-time because of the practice I was able to get from this software!

Canada has the largest number of regulatory organizations in the world due to the lack of a central regulatory authority. The Canadian Government has been contemplating the process of unifying all regulatory organizations under a single roof; however, the plan hasn’t come to fruition yet. Canada has conducted numerous case studies and has sought recommendations from experts to create a single regulatory authority that will be able to regulate and supervise all financial firms operating in the country. Nevertheless, at present, Forex brokers in Canada are regulated according to the territory of operations.
It should be noted that there is no central marketplace for the Forex market; trading is instead said to be conducted ‘over the counter’; it’s not like stocks where there is a central marketplace with all orders processed like the NYSE. Forex is a product quoted by all the major banks, and not all banks will have the exact same price. Now, the broker platforms take all theses feeds from the different banks and the quotes we see from our broker are an approximate average of them. It’s the broker who is effectively transacting the trade and taking the other side of it…they ‘make the market’ for you. When you buy a currency pair…your broker is selling it to you, not ‘another trader’.

In the most basic terms, if you make a trade based on the assumption that the currency pair’s price will rise, you’re trading on the long position; conversely, if you’re trading based on the assumption the price of the pair will fall, you are trading on the short position. The two ways of profiting in the Forex markets are therefore known as the “longs” and the “shorts”.

Novak may not be the first person to observe that trading an ABC pattern could be profitable. Others have discussed this type of trading strategy in the literature. What makes Novak a true trading pioneer is that he has integrated this pattern with trend channels and automated Fibonacci confluence zones to make them far more reliable and therefore lower-risk trade signals. (For more, see: The Pioneers of Technical Analysis.)

Forex traders evaluate currencies and the countries much like how equities and companies are evaluated to get a clear idea of the currency’s value. The value of a currency changes due to many factors such as economic growth of the nation and its financial strength. All this information is analyzed by the forex traders to evaluate the value of its currency. Fundamental trading strategies cannot be easily mastered by a newbie forex trader. Given below are some trading methods that use fundamental analysis.
Foremost of all, forex demo accounts are not able to provide their users with the same emotional intensity when compared to trading with a real money account. One of the hardest things that a trader has to learn when trading forex is keeping their emotions in check. Hence because of the limitations of the demo account, the only way that a trader can learn to master his emotions is by trading with a real money account.
A trading platform is provided by your broker after you open a brokerage account. A trading platform simply acts as a bridge between your computer and the market, and is used to analyse the price charts of currency pairs, to enter, manage, and close trades, and to perform a whole range of other tasks depending on the platform’s features. One of the most popular trading platforms is the MetaTrader platform, so make sure that your broker offers that platform as it also involves great online support from millions of traders worldwide. There are two versions of MetaTrader – MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. While the latter one is the newer version of the program, both versions are quite similar and don’t make a real difference for beginners on the market.

While Forex trading for beginners or professionals will always require software, the level of competition between brokers means that most Forex trading software is available for free. Many Forex trading beginners are also tempted to purchase FX robots, also known as Expert Advisers (EAs). While some EAs can be helpful, it can be hard for them to remain profitable when the market changes.
For a simple analogy, consider that when you purchase a brand-new car, you pay the market price for it. The minute you drive it off the lot, the car depreciates, and if you wanted to turn around and sell it right back to the dealer, you would have to take less money for it. Depreciation accounts for the difference in the car example, while the dealer's profit accounts for the difference in a forex trade.
The foreign exchange market (Forex, FX, or currency market) is a global decentralized or over-the-counter (OTC) market for the trading of currencies. This market determines foreign exchange rates for every currency. It includes all aspects of buying, selling and exchanging currencies at current or determined prices. In terms of trading volume, it is by far the largest market in the world, followed by the credit market.[1]
An easy way to think about it is like this: the BASE currency is the BASIS for the trade. So, if you buy the EURUSD you are buying euro’s (base currency) and selling dollars (quote currency), if you sell the EURUSD you are selling euro’s (base currency) and buying dollars (quote currency). So, whether you buy or sell a currency pair, it is always based upon the first currency in the pair; the base currency.
Trading in a demo account can offer a novice trader ample opportunity to test their skills in reading the market, and they provide invaluable experience without the need to commit real funds to a trading account. A demo account can also have technical analysis and other market diagnostic features that offer a new trader excellent educational material. Make sure that the broker you open a demo with is regulated in your jurisdiction, e.g. the NFA for U.S. traders, in case you wish to deposit funds in the account at a future date.
The Forex Trading services line of business will continue to be in high demand by business establishments in the United States, most especially as the number of businesses and international trade increases. Manufacturing industries and other corporate organizations are also expected to continue to source for forex especially when they are involved in intentional trade or have international business partners.
By using the Forex Calculator, every trader can quickly and easily form the volume of the lot size, the price of a pip, leverage and so on. The big advantage of this trader’s calculator is that all options are already included in the software. When using the calculator there is absolutely no need to recalculate the parameters manually and needlessly risk to make a mistake.
Interest Rate Risk: The moment that a country’s interest rate rises, the currency will strengthen. The boost in strength can be attributed to an influx of investments in that country’s assets since with a stronger currency, higher returns can be more likely. But if the interest rate falls, the currency will weaken, which may result to more investors withdrawing their investments.
Flights to quality: Unsettling international events can lead to a "flight-to-quality", a type of capital flight whereby investors move their assets to a perceived "safe haven". There will be a greater demand, thus a higher price, for currencies perceived as stronger over their relatively weaker counterparts. The US dollar, Swiss franc and gold have been traditional safe havens during times of political or economic uncertainty.[73]

Securities such as domestic stocks, bonds, and commodities are not as relevant or in need on the international stage and thus are not required to trade beyond the standard business day in the issuer's home country. The demand for trade in these markets is not high enough to justify opening 24 hours a day due to the focus on the domestic market, meaning that it is likely that few shares would be traded at 3 a.m. in the U.S.

Cryptocurrencies have been compared to Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes[76] and economic bubbles,[77] such as housing market bubbles.[78] Howard Marks of Oaktree Capital Management stated in 2017 that digital currencies were "nothing but an unfounded fad (or perhaps even a pyramid scheme), based on a willingness to ascribe value to something that has little or none beyond what people will pay for it", and compared them to the tulip mania (1637), South Sea Bubble (1720), and dot-com bubble (1999).[79] The New Yorker has explained the debate based on interviews with blockchain founders in an article about the “argument over whether Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the blockchain are transforming the world”.[80]
But reporting quality varies greatly from dealer to dealer. All dealers will provide you with a full transaction report, but how those transactions are laid out could mean the difference between spending hours reconciling trades, or taking one minute to print out a final report to present to your accountant. Some FX traders may generate thousands of trades in a year. A platform that reconciles all those trades into an easy-to-understand, end-of-year income statement, breaking down all profits and expenses, is invaluable.

Getting a decent account manager requires some research and considerably more paperwork than trading your own account. It also involves signing a limited power of attorney agreement (LPOA) that is a legal document and shows that you have authorized the account manager to trade on your behalf. Keep in mind that you can still lose money in a managed account, depending on the money manager, risk level, market activity and other conditions of your agreement. You should, therefore, check track records and testimonials for any account managers you consider and make sure that they have a good reputation within the trading community.

RISK WARNING: Trading in Forex and Contracts for Difference (CFDs), which are leveraged products, is highly speculative and involves substantial risk of loss. It is possible to lose all the initial capital invested. Therefore, Forex and CFDs may not be suitable for all investors. Only invest with money you can afford to lose. So please ensure that you fully understand the risks involved. Seek independent advice if necessary.
This chart pattern is formed by three bottoms, in which the bears, once a double bottom had formed, felt that they wanted to challenge the support level once again. Once price was at the support level, it was followed again by the bulls entering the market and rejecting the bears attempt at breaking the level. Price then abruptly returns to the neckline.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) limits leverage available to retail forex traders in the United States to 50:1 on major currency pairs and 20:1 for all others. OANDA Asia Pacific offers maximum leverage of 50:1 on FX products and limits to leverage offered on CFDs apply. Maximum leverage for OANDA Canada clients is determined by IIROC and is subject to change. For more information refer to our regulatory and financial compliance section.

One function that most new FX traders overlook is tax reporting. Because FX is a global, unregulated market, dealers as a general rule do not provide any documentation to the tax authorities in the trader's country of residence. Tax reporting is solely the responsibility of the trader. Brokers produce detailed transaction histories, in an electronic format, from which the trader must then compile their tax reports. Such an arrangement calls for a trading platform with highly organized and flexible reporting functions.

Leverage: Currency markets and CFDs traditionally move by small amounts daily. To make it worthwhile to trade currency leverage is offered by all forex brokers to amplify these movements. Higher leverage can be critical for advanced forex trading strategies and can differ from 50:1 up to 400:1 so this can be a critical variable used to determine the right forex broker. It should be noted forex traders usually can request lower leverage.

Another possible source of confusion is that GMT is always just that, summer, winter and fall. Eastern time, however, comes in two flavors: Eastern Standard Time (EST) and Eastern Daylight Time. Since the agreed-upon reference time worldwide is actually GMT, which has no Greenwich Mean Daylight Savings Time, this means that a New York trader who chooses to reference Eastern time rather than GMT, must keep in mind that during Daylight Savings Time in New York, the trading hours shift by an hour because the GMT reference time, needless to say, does not shift.
However, it does have a single advantage – the Depth of Market interface. While MetaTrader 4 does have this feature, the Ninja Trader’s solution is far more sophisticated and useful. But that doesn’t outweigh the overall clumsiness of the terminal and downright bad compatibility – there is no Wine support for Ninja Trader and no Linux version in sight.

Forex dealers either called each other directly or placed orders with a voice broker. The voice brokers shouted the best available bid and ask prices into open multi-party phone lines that ended in small speakers known as “squawk boxes” on the desks of each dealer. Dealers relied on each other for market information and would call each other for quotations. They also passed on unwanted currency inventory to each other, a process known as “hot potato trading.” Over half of all forex trading was between dealers.2
We all know that practice makes perfect, and have all heard about spending 10,000 hours to master a skill. Trading is no different, and the number of hours a trader puts in is what distinguishes Forex beginners from trading professionals. This makes practice even more important than theoretical knowledge. The good news is that an online stock market simulator can help you do that.

Hello julan8. Thank you for your question. Trading bitcoin is very simple. All you have to do is sign up to a trading platform, possibly a trusted one like eToro. You will be required to type in some personal details whenever you sign up on a platform. You normally have to include your full name, email address, country, password and then you are required to accept the terms and conditions. After that, regulated brokers normally require you to verify your identity by providing all of the appropriate documentation, including a copy of your passport and a bank statement to verify your address. It usually takes a few days for your verification to be processed. Once that is done, all that’s left for you to do is deposit your funds and then access your trading space. To trade bitcoin, you can search for “cryptocurrencies” or “bitcoin” on the search engine of the platform. You can then select it and click on “buy” to start trading it. I hope that helps.

Forex traders can now trade on the largest financial market from the comfort of their homes, using just a computer with internet access!
At the end of 1913, nearly half of the world's foreign exchange was conducted using the pound sterling.[24] The number of foreign banks operating within the boundaries of London increased from 3 in 1860, to 71 in 1913. In 1902, there were just two London foreign exchange brokers.[25] At the start of the 20th century, trades in currencies was most active in Paris, New York City and Berlin; Britain remained largely uninvolved until 1914. Between 1919 and 1922, the number of foreign exchange brokers in London increased to 17; and in 1924, there were 40 firms operating for the purposes of exchange.[26]
However, it is worth considering whether a minimum deposit is required. You should also check whether advanced trading tools will come with an additional charge when you upgrade to a live account. Finally, how long do you have access to their practice offering? Is it unlimited or will you have to look elsewhere after a short while if you’re not ready to upgrade?

The forex trading strategy Carry Trade is different from other forex strategies. While most of the Forex trading strategies follow the concept “buy low/sell high”, Carry Trade relies mainly on the difference in interest rate between the currencies. This means that forex traders can make profit even if the market is stable. When employing this strategy, traders buy a currency with a high differential ratio, meaning the interest rate of the currency they buy will be higher than that of the currency they sell.
The first decentralized cryptocurrency, bitcoin, was created in 2009 by presumably pseudonymous developer Satoshi Nakamoto. It used SHA-256, a cryptographic hash function, as its proof-of-work scheme.[14][15] In April 2011, Namecoin was created as an attempt at forming a decentralized DNS, which would make internet censorship very difficult. Soon after, in October 2011, Litecoin was released. It was the first successful cryptocurrency to use scrypt as its hash function instead of SHA-256. Another notable cryptocurrency, Peercoin was the first to use a proof-of-work/proof-of-stake hybrid.[16]

Although cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin, are gaining popularity, there are still many associated risks. In forex trading, dealing in a decentralized currency that offers global transactions with no fees is an advantage. But the tradeoff is essentially adding a third currency to what was a trading pair. Traders who want to take on that risk should use only locally regulated forex brokerages.

Typically, currency pairs move in the main trading session then they consolidate after the first few hours of the US session. This pattern is repeated day after day. Currency pairs move; then they consolidate, then they move, then they consolidate and the pattern keeps repeating. The consolidation and retracement chart patterns that develop from these cycles will be discussed with clear illustrations and images.

Though bitcoin, the first-ever cryptocurrency, appeared more than 10 years ago, the legal status of digital currencies has not been defined yet. However, virtual money is gaining in popularity, so both the global community and separate countries should settle down this issue. It is premature to discuss the legal status common for all countries, but a number of states have already started to prepare the legal basis to regulate the use of cryptocurrencies. Countries split into two main camps. Some states intend to ban or limit the use of virtual money. These countries are Bangladesh, Bolivia, China, and Ecuador, as well as Iceland, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, and others. There are also countries that draw up a legal framework for introducing cryptocurrencies into their economies. These countries are Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, and Denmark, as well as France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Israel. Italy, Japan, New Zealand, and Norway, as well as Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, England, the United States, and some other countries also stand for accepting cryptocurrencies.

Hi Dale These are the kind of analysis that I love to see. You are the kind of guy I would like to follow. Unfortunately even with so many good explanations it is dificult to find either time or discipline to put in practise. I have seen so many traders that can understand but fail at the time they need to apply all the rules and principles. I have seen some of your other videos and I have liked them. Do you provide paid forex signals? Regards Antonio
Hello Jack. Thank you for your question. I think a lot of it depends on your level of online trading experience. If you do not have much, we would recommend having a look at auto trading robots. They are based on extremely sophisticated technologies that allow the platform to carry out the market analysis for you and to place the most profitable trades in complete automation. All you have to do is spend a few minutes a day to modify the settings but that’s it.

Do you want a course drip fed to you over a few weeks or would you prefer to access the entire collection of training material at once?  As mentioned above, you need to consider what stage you are at in your education and whether a paid course would be suitable or not.  You also need to assess whether the content of a particular course will actually cover the topics you need to learn. This applies to both free courses and paid topics.  There’s no point spending a week learning the exact same material as a previous course.

As you may learn over time, nothing beats experience, and if you want to learn forex trading, experience is the best teacher. When you first start out, you open a forex demo account and try out some demo trading. It will give you a good technical foundation on the mechanics of making forex trades and getting used to working with a specific trading platform.
Forex training is a guide for retail forex traders. Forex trading courses are often certified through a regulatory body or financial institution. In the United States, the SEC, the Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the National Futures Association, the Futures Industry Association and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission are some of the boards that certify courses.
The cTrader has a desktop and web-based version. The web-based version loads quite easily, and also has a new feature introduced into the latest version: the “cTrader Copy”. This is the social trading product of cTrader, and allows the beginner to copy the trades of successful traders from within the cTrader platform itself! This is a stunning innovation and has taken the concept of social trading to another level.
